PROBLEM

As part of a 16-week brand management course, I analyzed 34 aspects of Peony & Poppys brand identity. While the stores existing logo and packaging carried charm, the visuals were overly detailed and difficult to use on small physical tags and for online use. One design challenge I took on was to simplify the brand logo so it could scale down on a tag, while still reflecting Peony & Poppys personality as a boutique home and gift store.

PROCESS/ SOLUTION

I simplified the original logo into a circular “P & P” mark, then built realistic wax seal mockups using layering and shadow techniques. By adding highlights, bevel effects, and mirrored logo inversions, I recreated the depth of an actual pressed seal. I adjusted brand colors to blush, sage, mustard, and teal, then applied the seals across product tags, gift wrap, and thank-you cards. Each mockup was refined with perspective, lighting, and shadow adjustments in Canva to keep the designs tactile and authentic.

IMPACT

The simplified logo and wax seal system turned everyday packaging into a premium brand experience. The mockups showed how a flexible design could create consistency, cohesion, and a more polished identity for Peony & Poppy.

THE TAKEAWAY

This project gave me the freedom to be creative and think outside the box. I learned how small design choices, like simplifying a logo or adding texture, can carry through packaging, tags, and cards so the whole brand feels connected and memorable.
